Outside my Window

Outside my window i smell the stench of poverty

The belief that we are next to nothing or one in the same

I see a man that thinks he’s nothing

He thinks he’s revolutionary, a renaissance man

He portrays the typical stereotype he was breed to follow

Ignorance is his mantra

He’s blind to the socioeconomic position he finds himself in

Nor does he care

Brokenhearted by the pains and scraps of society

He drives on in fear

Not of faith, but of man

He’s scared of his fellow man

The rich man laughs at the prospect of a free and equal society

It serves him no purpose, no merit

The poor will always be poor if they continue to live in the mentality that they are privileged

Religion blinded the eye of the realist, of the opportunist

They told him to wait on salvation and go through hardship and hard trials

They told him who he loves is wrong

Several men wrote the morals by which you follow

Still your’re blind to the facts

The facts that have been skewed by falsehoods and bullshit

Read young one

Reading opens the door to education

To understanding

To a true revolution that will not be televised

It will not be televised cause it’s in the mind

In the mind of the downtrodden

In the mind of the minority

Most importantly in the mind of the People

Outside my window i see hope

I see the Future

Stay a Little While Longer

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Why don’t you stay a little while longer

Cause baby when you are gone nothings right

I just don’t know I just don’t know

What to do

I just wish that time would go slower

So I could truly

Truly enjoy you

Where have you been all my life girl?

Or was I just overlooking the obvious

Stay a little while longer

So I can

I can get next to you girl

You make me feel so good baby

Good enough to take on the day

My life my life has changed baby

Ever since you

Walked through my door

I’m so glad to have you round girl

So please just stay a little while longer

This is Life

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr

Just when we thought all was well

We get set back

Almost like a cast spell

Exploiting what we lack

Despite all of this

We are still winning

Like our first kiss

In the beginning

Like that pride we feel

When we finally get that girl

That is until

She shatters our whole world

But despite all of this

We are still winning

Like taking a refreshing piss

On their linen

You can’t end unless you begin

You can’t close unless you first open

Your heart might be wrought with sin

But your soul will never cheapen

Cause despite all of this

We are still winning

Still living in a state of bliss

Cause life is for the living

And this is life

I’ll Haunt Your Soul

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Like the bogyman when you’re young

I come to still your innocence mind

Goes my footsteps in the still of the night

Causing your soul to recede inside itself

I bring darkness

My realm is the hellfire’s of mans imagination

I’m your broken promises and horrible misfortunes

All manifested into one big anomaly

Like teratomas formed in the bodies of man

I’ll disgust you, mistreat you, and make your skin crawl with terror

I’m that sinking feeling in your dreams

Or that creepy hand crawling up your sleeves

Darks nights and gloomy sights

Like that shadow in the window

That bump you heard in the middle of night

That creepy crawly feeling of despair

Miseries Company

misery loves company

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Misery loves company

At times I wonder if misery loves me

It comes to me at random times

Begging me to sacrifice my joy and happiness

So that it won’t be so lonely

Cause misery loves company, but no one loves misery

What a cursed life that misery lives

Sheltering itself in others pain

Its favorite place is a crying soul

So the day won’t be so lonely for it again

Cause misery loves company, but no one loves misery

Get away from me my miserable companion

You stick to me like pollen in the trees

I know you want company, but my time you can’t have

Find another soul to prey upon, cause mine is free at last

Cause misery loves company, but no on loves misery

Unheard Prayer

unheard prayer

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Heavenly Father

Guide us in our way and thinking

Show the young a better way to live

Help the old accept change with open arms

I pray for peace and prosperity

For a world where hate is as rare as peace is today

I pray and I pray but does it get heard Lord

I see the suffering in the eyes of my people

They live in miserable times and terrible places

Boredom threatens to strangle the last bit of excitement in their lives

They pray for hope

Hope that the next day is better or maybe even the next year

Circumstances delay the plight of their success

Dreams deferred just to see their offspring achieve theirs

But shouldn’t they be allowed the same convenience?

Our communities are degraded by negativity

Our children lost the moral discipline needed to respect their elders or even each other

Our elders lost the patience they once had and fail to accept change in the younger

They lost that hope they had for our generation

Lost the dream of the King

In this historic day and age where someone who looks likes me is the president

He’s challenged by the status quo

Not because his policies are bad

But because another skin color didn’t think of it

Lord be with him as he tries to change the world for the better

Be with our children as they set a future path for success

Comfort our elders and let them know that we the younger generation have the responsibility and discipline to take the reins from them

Bless the troubled areas of the world stop them for killing out of spite

Stop the violence against ourselves

We are all one people trying to make a better world for ourselves and future generations

Moral discipline is needed to bring back the sense of community that we crave

Social justice must happen to bring order back to the masses

With your guiding grace and all powerful knowledge Lord

We can make a way out of no way

Don’t let go and let God

Be there to receive the blessing

Hate is powerful, just like Love

People say you shouldn’t hate, well should you love

Love Hate

Such a thin line

But one without the other

Well that just can’t be

I love you company, on those lonely nights in spring

How you lie next to me and whisper sweet nothings in my ear

How your kiss feels on those passionate nights

How you stare into my eyes to catch a glimpse of my soul

How that one night our hearts beat as one

How you listened when no one would lend me an ear

How you stood by my side, when the world turned its back

How when you cry, a piece of me dies inside

But when there is joy in your smile my heart shines, boo

Our sweet little names that we call each other

I love you, yes indeed I do

I hate our spurts of random anger

The meaningless arguments that really solve nothing

Your judgmental friends, who are miserable and all alone

Your father’s evil eye, when I’m not in town

Your mother’s snide remarks, when I’m not around

Your time of the month, cause your hate flows freely

When you say “we need to talk”, my heart skips a few beats

See to truly love or hate requires commitment

A commitment to that person for a lifetime

Too much love without hate is delusional

Too much hate without love is detrimental

Balance between to two means together forever in most cases

Love is where I want to be

But hate is all I tend to see
