Outside my Window

Outside my window i smell the stench of poverty

The belief that we are next to nothing or one in the same

I see a man that thinks he’s nothing

He thinks he’s revolutionary, a renaissance man

He portrays the typical stereotype he was breed to follow

Ignorance is his mantra

He’s blind to the socioeconomic position he finds himself in

Nor does he care

Brokenhearted by the pains and scraps of society

He drives on in fear

Not of faith, but of man

He’s scared of his fellow man

The rich man laughs at the prospect of a free and equal society

It serves him no purpose, no merit

The poor will always be poor if they continue to live in the mentality that they are privileged

Religion blinded the eye of the realist, of the opportunist

They told him to wait on salvation and go through hardship and hard trials

They told him who he loves is wrong

Several men wrote the morals by which you follow

Still your’re blind to the facts

The facts that have been skewed by falsehoods and bullshit

Read young one

Reading opens the door to education

To understanding

To a true revolution that will not be televised

It will not be televised cause it’s in the mind

In the mind of the downtrodden

In the mind of the minority

Most importantly in the mind of the People

Outside my window i see hope

I see the Future

Lost my Mind

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Leave me alone so I can write this rhyme

This shits been stuck in my mind

For too long

Too long to tell time

Passing ever so slowly

The way I’m being tortured you’d think I committed a crime

Damn man I’m just trying to get mine

But these fuckers eating up my time

Tick tock

There goes that golden clock

Telling me to go kick rocks

Big rocks at Gibraltar

Rocking her boat like hurricane season

God please give me a reason

Why I continue to exist in this form

Is it me or is it destiny

I lost my mind

And this time

The rebirth of a revolution is evident

A Different Vibe

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

The facts are in front of our eyes

As we see the skies fly by

I realize that time is my enemy

But also my ally

Many things in yesteryears

Opportunities that all have passed

I took a different route

One of many that we travel in life

The endurance of pain as you try to gain

Hidden for the most part in secret code

By the evil that began

Webs spinning like a million spiders

Most get tangled and their soul consumed

But some who went through the true grit of life

Navigate the webs only stumbling at times

Learning to never make the mistakes they made in the past

The future is in reach but there are so many roads left to travel

Some much time to still gather

Time to love and be loved

Love keeps the world spinning

Hate slows down time blocking gifts from above

Halting progress while the other succeeds

We must not become tangled in the affairs of others

Instead we get our house in order

So that the path to the light becomes a little clearer

When Will I Be Free

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Day after day my intelligence is eaten away

But I am dying to get these folks to sway

I find myself trapped in a sea of despair

Desperately seeking some much needed repair

Creativity trapped in the confines of my mind

Hoping to be set free in due time

Life signed over to people who’ve become my enemies

Shoulda known these folks wouldn’t be a friend to me

Because they pick and prod at my sanity

Turning sane minds into insane kinds

I wish they would try to invade mines

Dropping bombs on thoughts that are not like theirs

Am I being too rash or are they just scared

Sick of fake smiles and politically correct words

Most times I wish I was flying with the birds

With wings spread

I’d prefer that than the life of the dead

But sometimes I’d rather lie in bed

Cuddled next to someone that cares

But currently me being committed is totally scarce

When I rarely get times to talk to my mother

Because my time is occupied with another

I just wanna be loved or love something

But freedom isn’t mine to enjoy it seems

So I’ll bite my tongue and tough it out

In time I’ll figure this whole thing out

But for now I’m left wondering to some degree

When will I ever be free?

Impeded Growth

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Desperately searching for sanity

I look within

Wondering what negativity the opposed will send my way

How they manipulate the system to impose their will

Crushing the hopes and dreams of many for their own selfish schemes

The hearts left home can’t fathom the horrors we face both foreign and domestic

Caused by selfish dictators of men

Trumping the ideas of the upcoming brood

To stick to old fashioned ways

Back to Serenity

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

In your eyes I see a calming presence

A calm that carries me throughout my day

Thoughts of you cross my mind from time to time

To relax my thoughts and settle my soul

When the day grows long and my stress levels high

You’re the medicine that cures even the deepest pain

Come to me in your time of need, you whisper

Your touch is something I need indeed

To feel that much love in the heart of another

Oh what a feeling that is to feel

I want to take hold of that feeling right now

Cause my current disposition is in a mass of shambles

Shattered dreams is all I have

Dashed hopes

Sullied visions

Screaming nightmares

Take me back in those loving arms

Take me back to you

Tender Hearts

tender hearts

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr

Tender hearts breed tender minds

Sensitive words better left unsaid

O tender heart why do you hurt so?

Tender mind why do you cry?

Why do you cry for me?

It makes me so sad to see

A mind and heart in such a conundrum

Love hates us

But love makes us

Pass a loved one by

Births us

Nurtures us

And fulfills our fantasies

Tender heart don’t die on me

Young girl don’t cry for me

I’ll make it through the night

Through this trying life

Life of a soul through the blistering cold

Tender minds

Tender hearts

Don’t cry for me

I’ll make it through the night
