Circles of Life and Love

Once you start believing in self

Your potential opens closed doors

Actions manifest from words once spoken

Life begins to complete the circle

But the circle starts to bend and break

It’s out of shape and forming a box

Inside this box you’ve closed your mind

Outside this box you’ve left your love

Alas, you wear hermits clothing

Sheltered from a world you no longer know

New ideas are foreign to you

New love you can’t seem to find

If you’d but form that circle once more

And let the love that comes flow freely

Opening your mind and heart to what’s in store

You’d life life abundantly once more

Mourn Me Not

Baby, you no longer have to cry the mourners cry

My soul has transcended these earthly realms

My heart no longer beats the pain of the broken hearted

My body doesn’t feel the suffering I’ve experienced

I wish you could see my smile

It’s genuine

I’m freed from the shackles of life

A hell of a life I’ve lived

Don’t mourn for me

Nor say a prayer

I’m where I need to be

And my life has began again

Progressive Thinking

The road behind me no longer exist

Nothing but memories remain

So even if I wanted to backtrack physically

I can only do it mentally

But as time passes and my present becomes my future

I can’t redo what has been done

Nor would I like to

Progressive thinking moves us forward in life

Not the constricting shackles of conservative thought

Cause a dream once realized can be achieved

The roadblocks of hate and misunderstanding

Coupled with ignorance and pure laziness

Only keep us in the dark ages

The one with the bright shining light in a sea of darkness

His name is future

His name is hope

No one can love you in the dark unless they’ve seen you in the light

Remember than when you try for commitment

You make the life you live and prepare the future you’d like

So open your minds and hearts

Close your mouths and legs

And for once really think

Eyes of Death

I stared into the eyes of death

Faced him head on

I almost lost my battle with death

I felt the life being forced out of me

I stared blankly at the ceiling

Wondering if God could hear my silent cries

There was a point where I almost gave in

I said take me from this suffering

Just end it all now

But the hands of death loosened

There is still a purpose to be fulfilled

I stared death in the eyes

He whispered not yet

Our time will come when we’ll do battle again

But for now you’re free to live life

This morning I won that battle, but the war is still imminent

Miles of life

Miles and miles outside my door
Millions more in my past
I wonder can I walk another step
before that one is my last
Can I have another chance to right my wrongs
Or is it too late to care
Along this mile I’ve pondered
Where will my road end
Will I be filled with riches
Or die a meager existence
Will I have found true love
Or died living a lonely life
Hopefully on this road I’ve helped someone, loved someone, been somebody
Any heart I’ve broken, I hope it heals
Any life I’ve taken, I mourn everyday
Forgive me for the man I am
Forget the man I was
Remember the man I’ll become

Destination Nowhere

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

I woke this morning with no particular thought
Hailed a cab, that drove to a train, that led to a plane
The clerk asked my destination
I replied anywhere but here
Maybe I’ll go to a tropical island
Or brave the cold of the North Pole
Maybe play in the jungles of Africa
Or sip tea in the land of Japan
My destination is nowhere
I’d like to start anew
This current life I’m living
Has reached its traumatic end
I’d like to have a different name
Make friends from different lands
Travel the world nonstop
Till I’ve truly lived this life
But I don’t want anywhere in particular
I’d rather be a nomad
My destination is nowhere
And that’s the life I live

Hidden in the Words

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Does she really want he real?

Does she wants the pain that coms with reality?

Joy comes in the morning

Or so they say

You’re alive so that’s joy enough

But what do they really want outta life

Life is for the living, not the dying or dead

So spend most of your life getting the bread

Aka money

Hidden in most books

That’s the secret

Learning what success feels like

Cause all most niggas will give you is dick and that’s it

I’m spitting knowledge
