Smile in the Face of Ignorance

In all my years of life, I’ve seen ignorance in different forms.  I’ve tried unsuccessfully to combat it, often fighting fire with fire. Now that I have a clearer understanding of this human condition, I just smile. Smiling has been one of the most successful defenses against perceived ignorance and the results are phenomenal.

The ignorant one often is confused as to why you find humor in their stupidity and it makes them look even more like a fool than their usual self. I’ve met the most ignorance online, people often hide, cowardly behind a screen, desperately wasting time coming up with what they perceive to be a funny anecdote. Time wasted on an idea that is sure to backfire is ignorance in itself. The process is called trolling, where a user spends quite a bit of precious time searching for a way to annoy intelligence.

These people, called Trolls, get their kicks from perusing the internet in discussion groups, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc, trying to interrupt and disturb topics they themselves aren’t familiar with. Some people will entertain the idiot until they either tire of their silly game or get roasted so bad that they aren’t seen again. Another trolling incident involves a serious status, tweet, discussion, etc that is interrupted by the stupidity of a troll. The troll knows now the situation but injects their idiotic brand of humor into a situation that doesn’t require or call for comedy.

The best thing to do in these situations is smile, but it is often entertaining for us intellects to bait the troll in intelligent conversation, their intent is to anger and annoy, but when you counter their illogical thinking you see that they are empty shells of nothingness and not really worth your time.

So smile in the face of ignorance and know that you the intelligent one won a battle in the long war against ignorance.

Stolen from Happiness

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

I’ve lost inspiration sitting in these drab hills

Sun baked mountains void of life

Here I sit to rest a spell, before I maybe sweat my last sweat

My mind is a maze of confusion and ideas

Too jumbled to write this short little tale

My mind is tired, my body weary

Sick of jive bullshit and blatant ignorance

If I could fathom a better time

Beyond these dry and dusty trails

Where I’d lay my head upon the softest feather

To breathe the breath of a distant loved one

Or just be in a familiar and comforting place

But the powers that be impede on my happiness

Stripping from me my link to the outside

I am cut from the cusp of reality

Stolen from happiness

When you’ve been where I’ve been

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

Where have you been in your travels through life?

Did you take the easy route and drive through it all?

Carefree and single with out a worry about a soul

Or did you walk a few miles on burning sands and through troubled lands

Barefoot and thirsty

Praying for salvation that will never come

To a lowly soul such as yourself

By the world at large

Crushed like the aluminum can under the feet of my peers

Shattered and dashed like ashes from the urn that contains the remnants from your pathetic soul

Simplistic emotions complex scenarios

Explain to me the reason for breeding future ignorance

For hating your fellow brother who is trying to make a living just like you

Carrying a generation on his back

Whip scars never disappeared

They became mental instead of physical

Self perceived power is but a myth unless actions are taken to make it better

See you only see part of the story unless you dig deep within and search for the truth

The truth so obvious to the naked eye

It’s piercing stare strikes your heart through your soul

Invading your thoughts

I Wish the World could hear my Plea

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

I wish the world could hear my plea

To stop the violence that is killing me

Me as in soldiers persecuted by senseless wars

Belittling our significance in today’s troubled world

A world free of racism

What a wonderful thought

Smashed by pure ignorance

Just look at the results

A nation of adults

We are supposed to be rational

But instead bicker and whine over simple skin color

Hear my plea my fellow citizens

That if we continue this innate stupidity

From within we will be destroyed

Not Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, Communist, Liberal, Republican or Democrat

We are one of many

A blending of colors

A melting pot of cultures

Great nations split and skewed

By senseless ignorance and increased arrogance

I wish the world could hear my plea

To stop this violence that is killing me

Infidelity of the Other

By: Tony L. Jefferson, Jr.

A total stranger

A close friend

Your own flesh and blood

The betrayal of a happy home

Your life destroyed in an instant

A moment of lust causes a lifetime of pain

Your trust is shattered by the actions of another

You cheated

She cheated

We cheated each other

Why did this happen?

Where do we go?

To hell and back for all I know

Our souls are scarred our love is tarnished

Tyler Perry called it the 80/20 rule

Some say the grass isn’t always green on the other side

We ignored the fact

Ignorance outweighs Logic

Love was confused with lust

A moment of passion

Lost to the time

Time we can’t retrieve

An accident

9 months of agony

My spouse it is not

Oh what a shame

Stay true to her

Stay true to him

Stay true to yours
