Hate is powerful, just like Love

People say you shouldn’t hate, well should you love

Love Hate

Such a thin line

But one without the other

Well that just can’t be

I love you company, on those lonely nights in spring

How you lie next to me and whisper sweet nothings in my ear

How your kiss feels on those passionate nights

How you stare into my eyes to catch a glimpse of my soul

How that one night our hearts beat as one

How you listened when no one would lend me an ear

How you stood by my side, when the world turned its back

How when you cry, a piece of me dies inside

But when there is joy in your smile my heart shines, boo

Our sweet little names that we call each other

I love you, yes indeed I do

I hate our spurts of random anger

The meaningless arguments that really solve nothing

Your judgmental friends, who are miserable and all alone

Your father’s evil eye, when I’m not in town

Your mother’s snide remarks, when I’m not around

Your time of the month, cause your hate flows freely

When you say “we need to talk”, my heart skips a few beats

See to truly love or hate requires commitment

A commitment to that person for a lifetime

Too much love without hate is delusional

Too much hate without love is detrimental

Balance between to two means together forever in most cases

Love is where I want to be

But hate is all I tend to see

It’s mainly a compare/contrast of love and hate as both very powerful emotions. I mixed a little of my experience with it, so give it that feeling!

I was so ready to disagree when I got to the line about there is a thin line. So many people think that it is normal to love and hate the one your are with, when really the “love” is only felt when the other makes them feel good. Self centered love is not love at all.

Still I love your poems and read on and felt humbled as I learned that I was wrong. Wrong for assume that love and hate should never be paired. Wrong to read with a closed mind. There needs to balances to everything if you if you are not willing to look acknowledge good times with the bad then your love will remain superficial.

    Nice poem, lucky girl.
